In 2011, Frazee Paint will approach its 115th anniversary. This subsidiary of Comex Group has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers and retailers of paint and coatings throughout California, Arizona and Nevada. Frazee is a leader in the architectural, commercial, industrial and government specification industries with its paints and coatings. Frazee also offers its products to the do-it-yourself market through its more than 100 retail locations. The company has blossomed in its 90 WINTER 2011 more than 110 years of operations. While recent years have presented challenges to the entire paint and coatings industry, including Frazee, the brand is still vibrant. “In this difficult economic environment, we have become a leaner and more nimble company,” states Vice President of Sales Juan Carlos Alonso. “The market has been stagnant in many of our markets and as competition has increased we’ve had to place greater emphasis on aggressively pursuing opportunities in additional seg- ments in our industry,” he says. Not only has the market been poor, but Alonso adds that the availability of raw materials has driven prices up across the globe. “There’s been a disruption in the supply chain because so many of our suppliers’ plants have been shut down for maintenance causing higher prices of some of our critical raw materials,” Alonso said. “We are continually and proactively making efforts to control our costs and provide additional value to our customers.
