CAWG Foundation Gala
RAISING FUNDS FOR STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS AND CELEBRATING CALIFORNIA WINES
The CAWG Foundation Gala is more than a social gathering. It
is a purposeful fundraiser that ultimately helps students achieve
their academic dreams. This year's fourth annual gala drew more
than 100 attendees at the Sutter Club on April 10.
During the reception, CAWG Foundation representatives
celebrated the important accomplishments of its scholarship
program that has awarded $433,000 to students over the past 21
years. The event includes a silent auction, raffle and blind wine
tasting competition judged by legislators.
"The gala is a special evening where winegrape growers, wine
industry friends and political leaders join together for a very
worthy educational program," CAWG President John Aguirre
said. "The foundation is proud to offer student scholarships
made possible by the generous donations of those in the
California wine industry and we are pleased to share the
program's achievements with legislators."

NINE WINES WIN GOLD IN WINE COMPETITION
Legislative leaders from the California Assembly and Senate
attended the gala and participated in the wine judging. They
awarded gold to nine wines. The friendly wine competition
featured 31 red and white wines from 23 California wineries. A
complete list of nominated and winning wines is on page 11.
