MEMBERS EARN $70
MILLION IN PAYMENTS

Children's hospitals
participating in CHA's group
purchasing programs for
supplies, services and
employee benefits have
continued to receive record
high returns. In 2016,
participating members are
expected to earn more than
$70 million in payments
based on participation in
CHA purchasing programs.

Hospitals participating in
CHA's Purchased Services
program will spend more
than $2 billion in 2017 on
supplies and services such as
temporary nurse staffing and
interpretation services. This
purchasing power leads to
greater savings for hospitals.
Here's more:
* Hospitals completing a
CHA-Vizient Purchased
Service Assessment
identified up to $4 million
in savings. Learn how
this process worked for
Seattle Children's at
childrenshospitals.org/
savings.
* Participating children's
hospitals spend more than
$1 billion per year on CHAmanaged benefits.

* Pharmacy benefit
management participants
received double the 2015
rebate value in 2016.

LESSONS FROM
THE CARE AWARD

A white paper chronicles
what children's hospitals and
CHA learned in the first 18
months of the Coordinating
All Resources Effectively
(CARE) for Children with
Medical Complexity project to
transform care and payment
models for children with
complex medical conditions.
This three-year effort,
supported by the Center
for Medicare and Medicaid
Innovation (CMMI), engages
more than 8,000 children from
across the country, families,

primary-care, hospital-based
and community providers and
payers to improve care and
reduce costs. View the white
paper, at childrenshospitals
