This year’s courses at the World Championships were challenging, but they always are. There were some sequences that would have destroyed our teams and many more a few years ago, but like we do every year, we adapted to the new challenges and met them with trained dogs. Overall the handling maneuvers that stood out were push-throughs, threadles, and offset lines of jumps. I tried to integrate some of the sequences and handling scenarios we found there in different parts of the setup in Figure 3. The exercises in Figures 4 to 17 are short, partly to encourage you to train the small parts first, but also because the diagram can get too messy when showing a longer sequence. I suggest you do the short ones, and then start combining sequences. Make up more of your own courses using these to spark your ideas for more challenges. I hope you have fun with these drills. D

Lead out close to #2. Send the dog to the back of the jump, then do a front cross before #3, and another front cross before the tunnel.

This handling is different. Lead out close to #2. Send the dog to jump #2; then keep the dog on the left to serpentine #2 to #4.

Send the dog to #2, threadle through to #3, then do a rear cross to #4. Be sure to bring the dog all the way to the front of #3 on the angled threadle jumps.

Do a lead-out pivot close to #3, then quickly slide over to get into position for a front cross to #4. Be sure you get the push to the back of jump #5.

Take a short lead-out and move into a front cross from #2 to #3. Do a front cross again after #4, then do a rear cross at the tunnel. Cut the corner to push the dog to #7.
