Practicing LOPs with a Pinwheel I like to put up a three-jump pinwheel to practice LOPs with my dogs. The angles change from easy to severe, depending on the shape of the pattern and the distance between the jumps. Some examples are shown in Figures 18 through 21. 18 19 2 2 3 1 1 3 Pinwheels come in all sizes and shapes.Put one up and do LOPs on both sides and around each side. The angle from #1 to #2 is steeper for this LOP. Make sure the dog is lined up straight from jump #1 to the center of jump #2. 20 21 1 2 3 1 3 2 Another LOP on a pinwheel. And another one. Common Lead-out Pivots to Perfect Figures 22 through 26 show a variety of common lead-pivots that you can perfect as soon as you master the foundation exercises with your dog. I think you’ll find that having a great lead-out pivot is an invaluable skill. D 22 23 3 2 3 1 2 Here is an interesting lead-out pivot where the turn is not on a jump. You need to draw the dog to the front of the jump before rotating. 1 This drill is a test of your straight-line, lateral distance skills. Don't cheat! Stand in the position shown. 30 Clean Run | June 10
