Handling #6-#7 As the dog exits tunnel, while the handler accelerates toward the weaves, the BCBL supports the line to #6 (black). At commitment to # 6, the handler stops, faces dog, executes an arm change to right arm, and the dog drives into the RZ, turning right off the weave refusal plane (green). As the dog is to enter poles, the handler steps back with the right foot then steps forward with the left foot, switching back to left arm (blue). The dog must turn left into poles.

As the dog enters the tunnel at #5, the handler should accelerate away toward the poles being careful not to cue the dog to turn tight out of the tunnel. As the handler is moving toward the weave poles, the BCBL should support the line out of the tunnel to #6 by facing the RZ in that direction as shown in Figure 7. As the dog commits to #6, he will be jumping toward the refusal line of the weave poles, so a cue to tell the dog to turn right off this line is necessary. Once the dog turns right off the refusal line of the weaves, he will then need to turn left into the entrance of the poles. Using a threadle cue will accomplish these two behaviors. The handler ideally should be as close to the weave poles as possible so that as the dog commits to #6, the handler stops moving and faces the dog, with heels pointing in the direction she will be stepping to next to the weaves. As the handler stops the right arm cues the right turn. The dog responds by turning and driving into the RZ. Once the handler deems the left turn must take place to enter the poles, the handler steps back toward the poles with the right foot and steps forward at the same time switching to a left arm toward pole #2. This cues the left turn into the weave poles. From the weaves, the handler continues to keep the dog on the left, supporting the direction of the long jump. At commitment to #8 the handler’s shoulders should face toward #9 as she accelerates up the line. Acceleration should easily drive the dog ahead on the line to #9. proper cueing of deceleration, the handler’s path should be lateral of the dog as shown in Figure 8. Since the handler is already near the front cross position, but still facing #9, when the dog commits to #9 the handler can now decelerate into front cross position, with the rotation of shoulders cuing #10. This deceleration should give nice collection before #10, and as the dog takes off for #10 he will already be turning over the jump toward the handler because he is thinking of driving into the RZ. To cue the final bit of the turn to the refusal line of #11 (which the dog must first cross in order to take #11 in the correct direction) execute the arm change for the front cross from a left to a right at commitment to #10. Be careful to not step forward on the front cross since this would show acceleration, when instead we want a nice tight turn around #11. As the dog commits to #11, the handler should turn toward the refusal line of #12. Although there is a theoretical front cross from #12 to #13, most handlers would really struggle to get to the positional cue at #13 in time; therefore, the next turn on course would be a right in the tunnel. Handlers need to be sure to run a diagonal line from the first upright of #13 to the tunnel entrance so that the dog is being cued to prepare for a
