I wanted to make this course fun and flowing, but still give the higher-level competitors some challenges. I strive to make courses that can be handled several different ways and have a nice balance between obstacle and handler focus. I like courses where a rear cross plan can work just as well as a plan that utilizes front or blind crosses. I also like courses where handlers who like using distances have the opportunity to utilize those skills. Since I run Border Collies and Staffordshire Bull Terriers I like my courses to be friendly for both the "bendables" as well as the "bowling balls." I decided to start with a pinwheel-like pattern, I find this evens the challenge of a start line for teams that don't have a stay or handlers who choose not to use a start-line stay in every class. If handlers chose to use a start-line stay as in Figure 2, they were able to get in a front cross to manage a send to the first tunnel which in turn allowed them to get in another front or blind cross to 17
