Australian Shepherd Club of America Continues
European Agility Expansion
Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) has expanded its agility program from the USA into Austria,
Belgium, Germany, Finland, France, and Italy. ASCA has
also held trials in Canada.
North American Dog Agility Council Updates
* North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC)
updated the NADAC Exhibitor Handbook to reflect
changes in Hoopers (the previously announced
combination of X-Hoopers and Numbered Hoopers)
and a new round two bonus option for handlers. In
addition, standard course times have been increased
for some jump heights. Read the rules at

* NADAC is adding "leaderboards" to its website, reflecting up-to-date top ten points-earners in various
categories. This is a change from the previous oncea-year top ten announcements.
Teacup Dogs Agility Association National
Tournament News
Teacup Dogs Agility Association (TDAA) is planning to
create a national tournament that is conducted simultaneously in multiple cities. In anticipation of this new
format, the rules for the 2018 Petit Prix (TDAA's current
national event) will include an option to qualify a dog for
that tournament for performance in Teacup League Play.
Teacup League Play prior to the 2018 Petit Prix will test
the data collection methods for a competition held in
multiple locations. All dogs will play the same game,
judged under the same rules, and the results will be treated as part of a single event.

In NADAC, you can get 5 points toward your title
(rather than the full 10) in a Regular class if your
dog knocks one bar but doesn't have any other
faults. Does this also apply to Regular runs submitted via video?
No. Section 8.2 of the NADAC Exhibitor Handbook addresses the videotape program (VT) and states that there
are no 5-point Qs allowed via VT.
How do you properly pronounce "Cynosport?"
The Cynosport World Games is the United States
Dog Agility Association's annual championship event.
USDAA president Kenneth Tatsch says, "Cyno is the
Latin derivative of the Ancient Greek word kuōn meaning dog. Proper pronunciation from Latin is Kē-nō, but
Americanization twists it to a soft sound for the letter c,
yielding sē-nō. The most familiar usage is in other countries where the term Cynological is used as reference to
the study of dogs. USDAA created the name Cynosport
as an identity for its championship tournament, as the
event promotes dogs in sport featuring dog agility." So,
say "SEE no sport" and you'll be right!
Can my dog compete in ASCA agility even if he is
not an Australian Shepherd?
According to an Australian Shepherd Club of America
agility representative, "ASCA is not only for Australian
Shepherds, it is a venue that is open to all breeds including those of mixed breeding. It is a fun venue that allows
training in the ring and a very nice benefit is that you do
not have to be registered with ASCA to show. Registration is only required if you want to earn titles, so you can
try it out and see if you like it without spending the money on registration. But if you do like it and earn some
legs, all you need to do when you register is include the
