The NADAC office is proud to announce that this year's Championships will be the largest held in the last 10 years. The event
will be held in Sunbury, Ohio, October 5-8.
NADAC has made some updates and changes in the last few
months since Chris Nelson took over as head of the organization. An email update went out to catch competitors up on the
recent changes, some of which have been previously reported in
this column. These changes include:
* Increased standard course times for small dogs
* Bonus dogs (runs in which handler movement is restricted
to a small area) may run in their regular class order rather
than first in the class
* Judges may design their own courses
* There is an online Hall of Fame listing that is updated
quarterly
* Yearly Top Ten is available online for this year and
previous years as well
* Monthly leaderboards are online showing dogs with the
most points earned each month
* Points and awards are updated weekly
* Emails are now sent out weekly to handlers whose dogs
have earned a title or award
There are more administrative and other types of updates and

USDAA Celebrates 30th Anniversary in October
USDAA will celebrate its 30th anniversary with the 30th running of the Grand Prix of Dog Agility Championships October
25-29, 2017, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. USDAA President
and Founder Kenneth Tatsch says, "The Grand Prix has been
a world class event, as it gained support of organizations from
Japan to Europe and South Africa in the shadows of the attacks
of September 11 in 2001. The event, held just nine days later,
was an emotional event as the solidarity of nations could be felt
throughout the event. Since that time the Grand Prix has en-

joyed the support of more than 20 nations, expanding to include
competitors from Australia and South America as well."
The Cynosport World Games includes the Grand Prix and
USDAA's other major tournament series: the $10,000 Dog Agility Steeplechase, the Dog Agility Masters 3-Dog Team Championship, and the Masters Challenge Biathlon. The Games is a five
day long event all taking place in one location.
Although entries for the Cynosport World Games will be closing soon, there still may be time for you to qualify if you would
like to enter. Tatsch says, "If you have not taken the plunge into
USDAA agility, you still have time to qualify for one or more of
these tournaments, and can even earn byes through the quarterfinals in Grand Prix and Steeplechase, by earning top scores
at one of several Regional Championships yet to be held this
summer. Check out the list of events at USDAA.com if you wish
to test your mettle against some of the world's best." The last
US Regional Championship will be held on September 1-4 in
Prunedale, California.
USDAA's website, USDAA.com, includes news and updates
on the 30th anniversary event and more. They also offer an
e-newsletter, the USDAA Overview e-Newsletter, which has
recently become available in Spanish as well as English "to improve communications with our Spanish-speaking affiliates and
competitors throughout Central America and the Caribbean,"
says Tatsch.
USDAA 2018 World Team Selection Update
According to USDAA's website, "Competitors wishing to qualify
for the 2018 IFCS World Agility Championships are required to
attend the IFCS World Team Selection Event being held September 15-17, 2017, in Castle Rock, Colorado." For more information, visit http://usdaa.com/article.cfm?newsID=3570 and click
through to the rules and "intent to compete" form.
Am I allowed to use a disposable respirator face mask or
surgical mask on my dog in between runs at AKC trials to
protect him from canine influenza? The only way I came up
with to use it is by attaching it to the exterior of a muzzle."
According to AKC dog show policies (http://www.akc.org/rules/
policy-manual/dog-show-policies/), muzzles are not allowed on
show grounds, so this wouldn't work. Sorry! D
