* Feet: The handler's feet should be
facing the same direction as the
chest throughout the Twist. As the
dog commits to the jump, the handler should turn her feet towards the
dog's landing spot. The feet should
stay facing the landing spot until the
dog lands. Once the dog's front feet
are landing, the handler's feet should
face the dog's intended line and the
next obstacle.
* Arm: The handler should use the
arm closest to the dog to commit
the dog to the jump. When the dog
is committed, the handler should
change to the opposite arm. Once
the dog lands, the handler should
use the arm closest to the dog.
Training
1. Start with the dog on a slice approach to the jump. Place a toy just past the dog's landing spot. Stand on the far wing and turn
your chest and feet towards the dog's landing spot. Release the dog and immediately begin moving backwards along the dog's
intended line. See Figure 6 (https://youtu.be/zCB-36bE2_A).
