years. However, it is over the past 140 or so years that
skyscrapers have risen to dominate the skylines of cities
around the world, reflecting the aspirations-and the
fortunes-of their constructors. This book will take you

with the early structures such as the Eiffel Tower and the
Leaning Tower of Pisa that anticipated the skyscraper. It
