Zetsche, who stepped down as Daimler
chairman in May, was Germany's longest serving auto executive with more
than 12 years leading the parent of Mercedes-Benz. He joined the automaker's
management board in December 1998.
Zetsche took over as head of former
Daimler subsidiary Chrysler in 2000. He
was promoted to DaimlerChrysler chairman in January 2006. In 2007, he separated Daimler from Chrysler. Zetsche is
scheduled to become chairman of Daimler's supervisory board in 2021.

REASON FOR WINNING
Zetsche turned Daimler from an unwieldy
conglomerate into a company focused
on upscale passenger cars and commercial vehicles. One of his key decisions
was to sell Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management in 2007. With Chrysler
gone, Zetsche helped lead a difficult
restructuring of Mercedes. The hard
work resulted in Mercedes winning back
the title of world's top-selling premium
brand from BMW. After slipping behind
BMW in 2005, Mercedes passed its rival
in 2016, four years ahead of Zetsche's
plan, and has held the lead since.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Reppert, who was appointed ShareNow's
CEO in February, started his career in
Daimler's aftersales department in 1998.
He held dealer network strategy and global business management posts in Germany and Switzerland until moving to Daimler's Smart unit in 2010. From late 2014
until 2016 Reppert was Smart's head of
brand and product management. In October 2016, he became CEO of Car2Go,
Daimler's short-term rental business.

REASON FOR WINNING
While leading Car2Go, Reppert made
the free-floating car-sharing business
an important pillar of Daimler's mobility strategy. He was a natural choice to
take control at ShareNow, which combined Car2Go with BMW's DriveNow to
better compete against mobility services
provided by Uber and other tech companies. Reppert leads a growing company
with more than 4 million customers who
use ShareNow's fleet of 20,000 vehicles
in 31 cities around the world.

1992, Nadella was a member of the technology staff at Sun Microsystems.

REASON FOR WINNING
Under Nadella Microsoft is working closely
with automakers such as Daimler, BMW,

Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and Volkswagen Group to help them offer cloud applications to accelerate their digital transformation and help them define future
mobility solutions. Together with BMW,
Microsoft this spring announced the creation of the Open Manufacturing Platform,
a technology framework and cross-industry community to enable faster, more costeffective innovation in manufacturing.
