Auction partnership
'natural next move' for TGNA
MONCTON, N.B. - In a newly formed
partnership with The Great Northern
Auction (TGNA), Cox Automotive
Canada began the first weekly
Manheim Moncton-hosted auction
from TGNA's 50-acre facility fronting
the Trans-Canada Highway. Dealers
in the region unable to attend or staff
the Wednesday auctions can still participate, with all vehicles broadcast
live on simulcast, including detailed
vehicle-condition, grading and history
reports.
TGNA CEO Mary Liptay said discussions leading to the partnership
between Cox and TGNA took more
than a year to conclude, but the linkup a "natural next move" for the
region's largest public auto auction.
As a progression, "it's exactly what we
need to be doing to grow the company in this market." Manheim Halifax
General Manager Mark Chatfield

said he expects to see "continued
month-over-month growth in New
Brunswick" resulting from the partnership.

Calgary tech diagnoses his way
to international competition

winner of Mazda Canada's annual
MazTech Service Skill Competition.

Canada raced the clock to find and

Calgary Mini on the move
CALGARY, Alta. - Calgary's Mini
Crowfoot has a new location and a
new name: Mini Calgary.
The move was made necessary
when BMW Crowfoot moved to new
quarters in the Northwest Auto Mall
and became BMW Gallery. Used Car
Gallery joined Mini Crowfoot in the
old northwest location but was shut
down and it was decided to sell the
building, meaning Mini had to move.
The new Mini location is in what
was formerly Hyatt Infiniti.
Tony Dilawri of the Calgary
Dilawri Group says the new site is
more centralized and has increased
the showroom capacity to eight vehicles from three.
Service capacity has also increased
to 10 bays.
"It makes sense to make the move
since most of our customers live in the
south side of the city," said Dilawri.

sales force at Nott Autocorp.
Stephen Hodgson, former manager of guest services and retail at the
Bell MTS Iceplex, has been selling
European vehicles for the past two
years. His hospitality-industry background includes managing the True
North pro-sports merchandise shop.
Four years ago, Pierre Coutu left
the pizza restaurant he co-founded in
Winnipeg to sell high-end luxury cars
in Toronto, returning to Winnipeg to
be closer to family and friends.
Tyler Vieira, who quarterbacked
the University of Regina football team
for two years (2015-'16) moved to Nott
in February, having sold electronics
