Dealers look to Stellantis to
reverse downward sales trend
In a market that was up 12.6

CANADIAN STELLANTIS DEALERS ARE
calling for a plan to boost eroding sales amid rising
inventories, said the chair of the automaker's
Canadian National Dealer Council (CNDC).
" It's no secret Stellantis' market share has been
dropping both in the U.S. and in Canada, " Murray
Haukaas said.
" As dealers, we have inventory challenges. We
have a very strong and aggressive dealer body that
wants to get its fair share of the market back -
and Stellantis does, too.
" Collectively, how do we do that? Those are the
discussions that are happening. "
Stellantis sales in Canada last year fell 6.3 per
cent against an overall market that was up 12.6 per
cent, according to the Automotive News Research
& Data Center in Detroit. The company's market
share fell to 9.3 per cent last year from 11.2 per cent
in 2022.
" As dealers, we're concerned with the trend
line, " said Haukaas, who is also CEO of Twin

'A LOT OF MOVING PIECES'
In February, during a roundtable
discussion with reporters, Jeep CEO Antonio
Filosa announced the brand is cutting prices on
some of its key models in the United States and
is taking new approaches to marketing, branding
and dealer relations in an effort to reverse declining
market share.
" We've got to see what shakes out in the U.S.
first, " Haukaas said when asked about Filosa's
comments. " There's a lot of moving pieces to this.
