New Milliken
additive for pp

Milliken has introduced DeltaMax, a new additive technology for polypropylene impact
copolymers (PP ICPs), and recycled polypropylene. DeltaMax extends the performance
boundaries of PP, simultaneously improving both impact
and melt flow in PP impact copolymers and recycled resins
and broadening the range of
applications for these materials. The modifier raises melt

flow by four to five times, allowing the material to be processed at lower temperatures,
hence providing sustainability
benefits in the form of energy
reduction and material use.
The new modifier is also said
to enable more use of
post-consumer recycled PP, as
it will optimize the melt flow
and impact properties of this
material to better meet the
needs of converters.

SABIC's new Lexan Margard FHC10 sheet

New automotive
glazing material
from sabic
Sabic has launched the latest
addition to its automotive glazing portfolio. Marketed under
the brand name Lexan Margard FHC10 sheet, it is engineered to comply with the
stringent visibility, strength and
abrasion resistance requirements of ECE R43 (Regulation
No. 43 of the Economic Commission for Europe of the United Nations). The new polycarbonate sheet, which offers
exceptional optical quality and
outstanding impact strength,
features a formable hard coating that requires post-curing

New modular thermopro
compatible with most
thermoforming equipment
Rapid Granulator has introduced a new range of granulators designed specifically for inline processing of skeletal waste
from sheet and film thermoforming lines. The new patent-pending ThermoPRO Series
- based on an already patented
Rapid design - is available in various standard and low-built formats for handling scrap widths
from 600 to 1,500 mm (24-60
in.). ThermoPRO machines combine features already proven on
other Rapid granulators - double-scissor cutting action, an
"open-hearted" design for fast
production changeovers and
ease of maintenance, a mineral
composite base for high stability
and low noise, for example -
with numerous new elements
that were tailor-made to make
thermoforming operations easier to run and more cost-effective. The ThermoPRO Series has
been designed to operate
around the clock. Modular construction was critical to the overall concept of the ThermoPRO,

for three hours at 130˚C to optimise abrasion resistance and
meet ECE R43 requirements.
This coating ensures excellent
adhesion under exposure to
temperature cycling, water and
humidity.
Lexan Margard FHC10 sheet
offers crystal-clear transparency
with low ripple and distortion,
including an extremely low
number of optical defects. Next
to eliminating post-coating operations, it gives automotive
OEMs and tiers another option
for creating simple, curved
glazing designs.

in order to make it possible to
create configurations compatible with all of the many brands
of thermoforming equipment
currently operating in the market. Special features include the
highly compact designs of the
integrated roll feed and dancer
bar. Together, these enable the
skeleton to be pulled into the
machine, which is running constantly, in sync with the
production line, which operates
discontinuously. The roller feed
has a pneumatic pressure control that enables it to adapt to
the thickness of the incoming
material.

The European machinery association Euromap has launched
a new data communication
protocol for injection moulding
machines. Called Euromap 77,
it is the new Industry 4.0-ready industry standard for the
exchange of data
between injection
moulding
machines and central computers
or manufacturing execution
systems (MES), thus allowing
machines from different companies to talk to each other.
The new standard is based on
OPC Unified Architecture,

37

which is an interoperability
standard used in the field of industrial automation by several
industries. Platform independent, it promotes the reliable
and secure exchange of data.
The
association
also said that other
standards are being worked on,
covering data exchanges between moulding machines and
temperature controllers (Euromap 82), moulding machines
and robots (Euromap 79) and
between extrusion machines
and MES (Euromap 84).
