ENTRY DEADLINE: 22 JUNE 2018
The Plastics Industry Awards have firmly established themselves as the
forum for recognising and rewarding excellence in an increasingly
competitive market.
Launched in 2001, and held annually in London this event is dedicated to rewarding
innovation and exceptional performance. The Plastics Industry Awards acknowledge the
best companies and the best people in the market.
Supplier companies are invited to submit a written entry about work they have done with
one customer, and all entries will be judged by panels of industry experts selected for each
of the four Supplier Partnership Awards.
Plastics processors can enter various categories including the highly coveted Processor of
the Year Award. Young Designers, Apprentices and Trainees are all invited to compete in
the Plastics Industry Awards 2018.

2018 AWARDS CATEGORIES
APPRENTICE OR TRAINEE OF THE YEAR
This category is open to all companies in the industry − suppliers, processors, OEMs − who have
apprentices or trainees and to academic establishments. The judges will be looking for measurable
results in areas such as academic achievements, skills development and overall performance in the
workplace. Each person must be entered by his or her training establishment or company. A prize of
£500 goes to the winner of this category, kindly donated by the PMMDA, www.pmmda.org.uk.
YOUNG DESIGNER OF THE YEAR
This category is open to individuals of 25 years old and under. They can be students, company
employees or anyone with a talent for design. The brief is to design a useful, original, non-electronic
product. It should obviously use plastic parts, although it does not have to be made exclusively from
the material. Product designs that are a benefit to society or the environment , also industrial or
commercial use. Entrants will need to submit rendered images of their project. Additionally, a product
profile showing due consideration for materials, processing techniques, end markets etc, should be
provided. A prize of £1,000 goes to the winner of this category, kindly donated by Motan Colortronic.

CONSUMER PRODUCT DESIGN
This award covers product designs for markets such as domestic products, sports and leisure goods,
electronic products, fashion accessories, medical and pharmaceutical devices, consumer packaging
and products that are a benefit to society or the environment. Entries are encouraged from product
designers and design engineers at consultancies, processors and end-use companies.
