K2019 - MACHINERY

QUALITY
COOLS.

A bucket becomes an A-pillar

K show for its own in-house
logistics.
Other highlights include a
joint development with Leonhard Kurz, Schöfer and Isosport
Verbundbauteile, which makes
it possible to thermoform, back
inject and die-cut surface systems from roll to roll in the
mould in a one-step process.
Called foilmelt, the process is
conventionally carried out with
ABS, PC and PC/ABS; now it is
also possible to use PP and recycled material for back injection.
At the K show, Engel will be
mixing recycled material in the
form of plant scrap shredded
together with the foil.
And at the outside exhibit of
recycling machinery supplier Erema, an Engel machine
will be moulding card
boxes from recycled
nylon fishnets.
at
Recycling has been
a focal point of R&D
for KRAUSSMAFFEI
(Hall 15, B27) for over
three decades, and it is
a strategic focus at this
year's K show, as
demonstrated by the
'circular economy' exhibit in
which the company's three
business units of Extrusion, Injection Moulding Machinery,
and Digital & Service Solutions
have combined forces. A GX
1100 injection press with a
clamping force of 11,000 kN,
the newest size in this series
which will be launched at the K
trade show, will produce PP
buckets, which are then shredded externally and fed back
into the material circuit as
regrind. This will be recompounded using a KM ZE 28
BluePower twin-screw extruder,
followed by an underwater palletisation process and then

dried. A material feeder will
convey the polypropylene to an
all-electric PX 320 injection
moulding machine, where it
will be back-moulded onto fabric and formed into a panel for
an A-pillar. APC Plus monitors
the injection moulding process
and adapts it continuously to
balance interference factors
such as fluctuations between
batches and in climate or
changing recompound percentages. In injection moulding, this
is done via the material database stored in the machine and
the online analysis of the melt
viscosity and also by adjusting
the holding pressure changeover point and the holding pressure level even within the same
cycle. In extrusion, the
melt temperature, pressure and screw speed
are recorded. The DataXplorer makes a detailed view of the depth
of the process possible
because it is capable of
storing up to 500 signals every 5 milliseconds as graphs - for
instance, signals from
the machine or the mould. All
data resulting from this is routed to the new data system,
which is being introduced at K
2019.
ARBURG (Hall 13, A13),
too, is centring its presentation
on the themes of digitalisation
and the circular economy with
the "arburgXworld" and new
"arburgGREENworld" initiative.
The new arburgGREENworld initiative, said the company, rests
on the three pillars of Green
Machine, Green Production and
Green Services. A fourth pillar,
Green Environment, includes

The demands on components for electrical/electronics applications are on the rise, and that's why we
want to introduce you to the real stars of our polyamide portfolio. Durethan® BTC65H3.0EF and
BTC75H3.0EF have unique property combinations
that support more efficient thermal management, for
example in covers for electronic component housings.
The Durethan® compounds display outstanding,
virtually isotropic thermal conductivity combined with
premium mechanical properties and a reduced tendency to warp. Another advantage of these materials
is their optimized viscosity and associated good processing behavior in injection molding. Their wide processing window and extensive design freedom make
Durethan® BTC65H3.0EF and BTC75H3.0EF
highly versatile. To find out more about our thermally
conductive BTC grades, visit: www.durethan.de
