sustainability in Arburg's internal production processes.
On the digitalisation side, Arburg
will be exhibiting innovations in its
digital product and services offering,
such as the filling assistant and the
plasticising assistant, as well as the
enhanced connectivity of the Allrounder. The new filling assistant is
integrated into the control system,
meaning
that
the
Allrounder
"knows" the moulded part it is to
produce. The simulation model created offline and the geometry are read
directly into the control system. At
the Gestica control system, the degree of part filling, relative to the current screw position, is animated in
real-time as a 3D graphic. The machine operator can compare the results of the simulation created offline
with the filling performance of the
last cycle interactively on the Gestica
monitor.
On the 'green' side, Arburg will be
presenting two applications. In the
first, around 30% recycled material
provided by Erema (hall 9, stand 05)
will be used to mould eight PP cups in
a cycle time of around four seconds,
on a hybrid Allrounder 1020 H. This
new size machine in the company's
portfolio will be presented as a packaging version.
In the second circular economy
application, a PCR material (post-consumer recyclate) derived from household waste is used to produce a technical product. The recyclate is
processed by an electric two-component Allrounder 630 A in a Profoam
foaming process; the second material
is TPE. The injection-moulded part is a
machine door handle whose two

halves are mounted in the mould.
This is followed by partial overmoulding with the soft component.
Digitalisation and the circular
economy is a strategic focus for
WITTMANN BATTENFELD (Hall 15,
C06) as well. The company is demonstrating its circular economy ambitions with a joint project in which
cosmetic jars with lids will be manufactured from a material completely
based on natural ingredients on an
EcoPower 240/1100H/130L Combimould using a 4+4-cavity mould. This
material can be recycled without any
loss of its functional properties. The
jar is injected by the machine's main
aggregate, the lid by the L aggregate.
The machine is equipped with a fully
integrated W842 pro robot, which
takes a round paper label from a
magazine and inserts it on the clamping side for the bottom of the jar.
Next, the W842 pro removes the
parts from the nozzle side and passes
the jars on to a W818 robot, which
inserts them into a screwing station.
The W842 pro then transfers the lids
for the jars to the screwing station,
where they are screwed onto the jars
and deposited.
Under the banner "Enjoy Innovation," Wittmann Battenfeld will
showcase intelligent machines using
adaptive algorithms which have the
capability to adjust themselves according to the ambient conditions.
As part of this, an all-electric EcoPower 55/350 equipped with the
HiQ-Flow, HiQMelt and HiQ-Metering software packages will be shown
producing polycarbonate clothes
pegs using a four-cavity mould supplied by Austrian tooling specialist
Lechner. These systems, plus all auxiliary components, will be integrated
into the machine's Unilog B8 control

30

system via Wittmann 4.0.
The system will be able to check
whether the connected auxiliaries are
sufficient to support the selected
product data set, or whether additional equipment is needed. Additionally, the cell can compensate automatically for material viscosity
fluctuations, supporting stable output
and helping to eliminate scrap.
HAITIAN INTERNATIONAL (Hall
15, A57) reckons that, worldwide,
over 80% of standard applications
use standard plastics with a theoretically high recycling rate. Its strategy is
to build affordable electric injection
moulding machines for precisely
these standard applications, then
continuously optimise these to promote the resource-efficient use of
raw materials to produce recyclable
plastic parts.
The company's new, third-generation technology will be on display at
the stand, including Zhafir's patented
new electric injection unit, available in
three design versions with 1, 2 and 4
spindles. On the third-generation
Zhafir Venus III, it is claimed to offer
up to 70% energy savings and very
high precision. The VE1200III will produce a medical part made of PP under
a laminar flow box from cleanroom
manufacturer Max Petek.
A packaging solution from the
Zhafir Zeres F series - an electric
all-rounder with integrated hydraulic
drive - will be moulding a 4-cavity lid
with IML, both made of PP, in a Sepro
Robotique production cell.
The redesigned Jupiter III series offers a compact two-platen solution
with even more free space and an
open integration concept for intelligent control and digitalised process
sequences. A JU5500III-2230 will produce an LED light strip made of PC,
