Conair displays granulator models at NPE
Conair Group is launching a
portfolio of granulators with standard features that can improve
sound insulation and harden and
water-cool cutting chambers on
most models.
The line offers larger screen
areas equal to 50 percent of the
rotor diameter, or 180 degrees.
More granulate gets through the
cutting chamber quicker without
added horsepower.
At NPE2018, Conair is displaying seven granulator models
configured for multiple plastic
molding and extrusion applications. The entire line has 14 models from small press-side units
to large central granulators with
rotor diameters ranging from 6-23
inches and throughputs of 80300 pounds per hour. In addition,
Conair plans to offer larger granulators and specialty units in the
near future.
Sam Rajkovich, vice president
of sales and marketing, said
Conair's objective was to design
and develop a straightforward
suite of machines that would be
suitable for most applications.

Evacuation can be set up to

basis or on a signal from the catch
bin's level sensor.

Material handling

unloading controller and, separately, a truck-fill line-proofing system.
The new railcar unloading controller can manage bulk resin storage for 30 silos from a single touch
screen.
The controller is available as an
option for Conair's FLX-128 Plus ma-

terial-handling control system or as
a stand alone control package.
Characterized as the first of its
kind, the controller allows an authorized user to view and manage
railcar unloading, silo selection,
material routing and silo filling
from a touch screen without needed to go outside.
More processors are gravitating toward buying resin in railcar
quantities to reduce material and
production costs, said Doug Brewster, Conair conveying systems
manager.
The controller includes an Allen-Bradley programmable logic
controller, an in-out control panel
and a separate 10-inch high-resolution human-machine-interface
monitor designed for indoor/outdoor use.
A user can plug the PLC and
control-I/O box directly into the
main panel in a plant equipped
with Conair FLX-128 Plus material
handling controls. Elsewhere, the
controller can operate in a standalone mode.
For the other product, Conair's
new truck-fill line-proofing system can safeguard the transfer of
truckload-quantity materials to
silos.
The system can remotely lock
access to silo-fill lines and prevent
trucks from connecting to any silo
line until an authorized user confirms the correct line and remotely

unlocks it.
Conair makes the system available on a stand alone basis or for
connection to the FLX-128 Plus
material handling control.
Brewster noted that silo-filling
mistakes are expensive to clean up
and often require off-loading and
sortation of silo contents.
The system remotely locks access to silo-fill lines and prevents
trucks from connecting to any silo
line until the correct line is confirmed and remotely unlocked.
The system consists of a PLC
module, wiring leads and one electronically controlled interlock device per silo line.
When connected directly to the
FLX-128 Plus panel, the plug-andplay system control is preloaded
with line-proofing software. Power and communications wiring
extends to each of the remotely mounted interlock devices at
the end of each silo fill line. Each
4-inch quick-connect point is protected by a hinged, electromechanical access gate.
In addition, Conair shows a new
generation of Carousel Plus-brand
desiccant dryers that offer a new
air-to-air after-cooling option, improved drying performance, advanced controls, high reliability
and energy efficiency. Offerings include the X Series portable dryers
and the dX Series mobile drying/
conveying systems.
