Sailing toward more
automation at Sepro

With a focus on improving its
robots and automation, Sepro
Robotique SAS is at K 2022 with
multiple machines and many interactive
activities.
With a huge outreach, Sepro is
a La Roche-sur-Yon, France-based
company that has 12 subsidiaries
and a network of 42 distributors
and 650 employees.
At K, the company had robots
running at nine other exhibits,
including Milacron, Fanuc, Bole,
Haitian, Billion, Toyo Deckerform,
FCS and SD.
Sepro sells about 2,500 robots
per year with 85 percent of its
production being exported. It reported
total sales of €120 million,
including €30 million from automation
systems.
Sepro is focused on modular
robotic solutions and smart automation
systems.
" It's always injection molding,
but there are so many different
applications, " said CEO Charles
de Forges. " There's always something
different from one application
to the other, and our customers
want to go to Sepro to fi nd the
perfect fi t is what they need. "
Choose your HMI
At K, Sepro highlighted that its
control software is hardware independent.
Not only can a single
human-machine interface (HMI)
be used to operate multiple robots
and auxiliary systems, but
any HMI can be used.
To prove the concept, one of
the demonstration cells on the Sepro
stand gives visitors a chance
to choose the HMI they think will
give them the most success in
piloting a Sepro S5-15 Speed robot
through a series of motions.
Choices include a smartphone,
an Xbox controller, two Keba KeWheels,
a gyroscopic pointer or a
pendant controller.

tion to calculate the best possible
trajectory, based on either maximum
energy saving, minimum
wear or fastest cycle time.
Sepro will collect feedback from
the demonstration to measure.
A third machine on the fl oor at
K is part of an automated work
cell making toy sailboats. A Sepro
5X-15 robot is teamed with a 110ton
Milacron injection press. The
cell can coordinate tasks, and it is
equipped with new Visual+ control
software.
" We want to bring new features;
we are open to new possibilities,
in terms
of data connectivity
but also speeds and
the ability to address
new topics and to
cover new customer
needs, " Forges said.
