Yes, you can do that, especially cooling to
improve cycle times. But this should be
done with 3D printing of metals.
Are there any special requests from
the UK or Ireland when it comes to 3D
printers?
We're getting a lot of requests from the
medical industry in Ireland, particularly using resorbable materials which are
used for implants.
Ireland is a larger market than the UK?
No, you can't say it like that. The industries
are diﬀerent.
What is the product cycle time in 3D
printers?
Well, in 2013 we showed the Freeformer
200-3X and in 2018 we had the Freeformer 300-3X.
So it's about ﬁve years to get a new
machine to market?
No, that's more a coincidence.
Can customers trade in machines for
upgrades, new products?
No. We don't do that.
The Freeformer 400 is already in
development?

No, we're working on new applications
right now.
Is there any limitation on design, or is
it just anything you can imagine?
Your imagination is the limiting factor, you
can print almost anything. But you have
to be aware that it doesn't make sense to
print everything. Also, you have to consider which technology is the best ﬁt for your
application.
