Performance enhancement for plastics
In this section, PRW showcases some of the latest technologies
being introduced across the polymer industry
BKG BlueFlow
gear pump
relieves
stress on the
extruder
New app calculates resin cost savings
Nordson Corporation, which has headquarters in Münster, Germany, has introduced a new online tool, Gear Pump Payback Analysis.
The new software calculates achieved resin cost savings based on criteria including resin price and output pressure. Using that data, the tool calculates the payback
period for the related BKG BlueFlow gear pump.
Installed between the extruder and die, the gear pump takes over the job of
building melt pressure from the extruder. This reduces stress on the extruder, while
significantly reducing melt pressure variation.
"By reducing pressure variation to as little as +/-1%, the BlueFlow gear pump
makes possible resin cost savings that can generate a full return on investment in
a matter of months," said Christian Schroeder, global manager for melt delivery
products.

Thermoforming specialist expands hardware range
ULMA Packaging has introduced the new TFS 200 MSV compact thermoformer. The new hardware supports production of three pack
styles, MAP, Skin and Vacuum, at up to 10 cycles per minute (dependant on pack style, product and format).
Designed to support the commonly-used 422mm film, the thermoformer avoids the need to source new packaging materials. In addition, it can be configured to suit individual or bulk packs.
ULMA Packaging, which has UK offices in Worksop, Nottinghamshire,
says the TFS 200 MSV is suitable for use with a range of fresh or frozen
food products, including meat, fish and cheese.

Haitian launches Jenius range of moulding machines
The Haitian Jenius machines are for
production of larger parts
Haitian, which has UK offices in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, has launched the
all-new Jenius two-platen electric/hydraulic hybrid injection moulding machine.
Officially referred to as the Zhafir Jenius (JE) Series, the moulders combine
two-platen operation with the benefits of an electric machine. Clamping forces
range from 360 - 3,200 tonnes.
The injection unit incorporates a servo motor and ball screw system to improve
injection speed, pressure and repeatability. Tie bar distance is 2,270 x 1,820mm.
With a shot volume ranging from 792 to 12,017cm3, the range has been developed for manufacturers of larger parts, such as those in the automotive and
white goods sectors.

Masterbatch improves look of recycled PET resins
Polymer and masterbatch specialist Ampacet has announced availability of
the Blue Edge 78 product.
When combined with recycled post-consumer PET resins, the masterbatch imparts a light blue tone, increasing overall product brightness. The
product can be used with water bottles and personal care packaging.
Based in Luxembourg and with offices in Telford, Shropshire, Ampacet
states the product has been launched as a mini-pellet so as to support ease
of distribution, processability and lower let-down rates.
