Novamid can be used for 3D printing of engine parts

expanded range of
polymer usage at K 2019

DSM is to showcase a series of
purpose-led innovations at K
Show 2019.
Under the banner 'Bright
Science. Brighter Living', the
engineering plastics specialist
will reveal new product solutions intended to address business challenges and customer
needs.
One of these is Arnitel
E-TPEE, an expanded co-polyester which can be used in a
series of applications.
In one case, the product is
used to produce mid-soles for
athletic footwear to deliver a
series of performance advantages. These include a very high
rebound rate of 75-80%, compared to 65-70% of comparable

materials. In addition, the material supports the circular economy
when considering an all-polyester
design, including adhesives.
In addition, the company
will show the Novamid PA6
and PA66 specialty polyamides. Designed for use with 3D
printers and offered in a variety
of grades, this product is described as a direct replacement
for some metallic engine components.
The material can further be
used for single-part production,
to help reduce inventories or
replace parts which have gone
out of production. According to
DSM, parts produced with Novamid are recyclable to where
they have properties of virgin
material.
