Coherent launches advanced laser marking system
Marking with the PowerLine E 8 QT
supports part traceability
coherent has introduced a new laser marking sub-system for use with polycarbonates, plexiglass, pmmA and other plastics.
branded powerLine e 8 Qt, the system incorporates high-performance scanning
optics together with a sophisticated user interface to deliver operational flexibility.
the hardware can complete standard marking and other, more unusual tasks,
such as engraving and marking on curved surfaces. the information allows for serialisation and traceability of manufactured parts.
the company, which is based in california, states that the system is suitable for
use in the medical, microelectronics, automotive, packaging and appliance sectors.
pre-sale, proof of principle testing is available.

Wittmann to reveal new Tempro plus D100 at K2019
Wittmann is to unveil its new tempro plus D100 at K 2019. the K show, regarded as the largest polymer industry event in the world, will be held 16-23
at messe Dusseldorf.
the tempro D100 is a temperature control unit which builds on the performance of the original tempro plus D. Designed for use with Wittmann 4.0
production cells, the hardware offers full process integration.
the new control unit, capable of 9kW heat output, features a magnet-coupled, stainless steel pump, ensuring sufficient flow. Pump capacity is 0.5kW,
with a maximum flow of 40 litres/min at a pressure of 4.5bar.
A range of optional add-ons ensure that the tempro plus D100 can be
configured to fit any application.

New PA6 compound for components requiring
higher tensile strength
Creamid P compounds are suitable for
under-bonnet automotive applications
teknor Apex has released a new pA6 compound range. marketed as creamid
p, the products are said to absorb 33% less water than standard compounds.
the rhode Island-based compounder says that this delivers tensile strength
improvements of up to 25% in the conditional state. Further, the product offers excellent flow characteristics, even with glass-filled formulations.
the creamid p specialty polyamide is intended for production of parts
which are suitable as direct replacements of structural metallic components.
The range includes impact-modified grades, while others support advanced heat stabilisation that extends longevity at high temperatures.

Foaming additives for improved finished part quality
ohio-headquartered polyone has announced availability of colormatrix excelite Im chemical
foaming additives. The products are formulated specifically for injection moulding applications.
excelite Im consists of a fully-endothermic concentration designed to improve dispersion over conventional CFAs, for enhanced performance and efficacy.
Using the products, processors can look to achieve density reductions, smoother surface finishes and reduced propensity for sink marks. This will result in a lower scrappage
rate and higher productivity.
excelite Im is suitable for automotive, construction and beauty product packaging. Specific food-safe grades are also available.
