On the move in the plastics industry
Phillips-Medisize, a Molex company, announced the appointment of Paul Chaffin as senior
vice president and president
of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Solutions division of
Molex. Chaffin joins Molex from
a Minnesota-based Fortune 500
company, where he was most
recently Senior Vice President
of Strategic Initiatives. Prior to
this new role, he spent 11 years
building and leading the company's global healthcare and life
science business.
He lives in Minnesota and will
be based in the Phillips-Medisize Hudson, Wisconsin office.
Borealis has appointed Erik
van Praet as vice president Innovation & Technology, effective
1 April 2020. Erik van Praet succeeds Maurits van Tol, who decided to pursue his career outside of Borealis in October 2019.
Erik started his career with Borealis in 1995 and served most
recently, as director of Strategy
and Portfolio, a role he fulfilled
for over a decade, first in Linz,
Austria and then in Beringen,
Belgium. Prior to joining Borealis, Erik worked at Desotec, a
company specialised in air and
water purification.
Costruzioni Meccaniche Bandera SpA has named Daniele
Cerasaro as its new general
Sales & Marketing director. Daniele is tasked with overseeing the
sales and marketing strategies
of Bandera in the area of Blown
film & Rigid Flat Die Technologies. Daniele has over 30 years
of experience in the machinery
industry under his belt, of which
20 in the packaging industry.
Kautex Maschinenbau continues invest in its ongoing strategic reorganization. The company
has appointed Jorge Cuevas
Martín as Global Service Manager, effective May 2020. The
51-year-old Spaniard will coordinate and ensure customer-focused expansion of the company's comprehensive service
provision worldwide in the areas
of After Sales and Parts Service.

Roeland Baan has joined
Haldor Topsoe as the company's new CEO. The appointment

Prior to transitioning to Haldor
Topsoe, Roeland Baan served as
CEO of Outokumpu, a global
stainless steel company listed
on the Finnish stock exchange.
Mr. Baan is Chairman of the
Board of SBM Offshore NV. In
addition, he is Vice Chairman of
the International Stainless Steel
Forum and member of the Executive Committee of Eurofer.

Karen Drinkwater, founding
director of JSC Rotational Ltd
was elected as BPF Vice-President by the BPF's Council.
Karen has been involved in
polymers since 2004 when she
established JSC Rotational with
her husband Mark. Between
2011-15 Karen chaired the BPF's
Rotational Moulders Group with
an emphasis on engaging with
undergraduate designers.
She takes up her position
with immediate effect and will
support BPF President Martin
Althorpe in his duties.

Helmar Franz has resigned as
Member of the Board of Haitian
International Haitian. He joined
the Haitian Group as executive
vice president of Strategic Business Development in 2005, becoming one of the first Germans
to serve on the board of a Chinese, family-owned company.
Haitian has now appointed him
chairman of the Strategy Development Committee, a council
comprised of experienced managers that provides input to the
board of management.

Clarissa Graf is Starlinger's
new sustainability manager,
tasked with defining measures
for the internal and external implementation of the company's
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. "My task is to
devise and implement a company-wide CSR strategy," says Graf.
"This strategy is being developed
internally - for example in workshops - and is constantly extended through the participation
in external events designed to
promote an exchange of experiences as well as further training
in the field of sustainability."

Tammo
Boinowitz
has
been tapped as the next president of Wesel, Germany-based
BYK-Chemie GmbH, the additives and instruments division of
the Altana Group. On 1 January
2021, Boinowitz will first become
managing director of BYK and
after a two-month training and
transitional phase, he will also
become the President of BYK,
the largest division of the specialty chemicals group ALTANA. He succeeds Dr. Christoph
Schlünken, who has headed
the division on an interim basis
since October of last year in parallel with his responsibilities on
Altana's Management Board.

PlasticsEurope has named
Alicia Martín as the new
general manager of the association's Madrid-based Iberian
branch. Martín, who replaces Ignacio Marco, has been involved
with PlasticsEurope for more
than 15 years, both in Spain and
Portugal as well as at the association's Brussels headquarters.
