appointment of Mirjam Mayer
as vice president polyolefins
transformation, eff ective 1 March
2022. In this position she will be
responsible for developing and
leading the business portfolio
of Borealis Polyolefins, Innovation
& Technology and Circular
Economy Solutions initiatives.
Mayer joined Borealis in 2020
Rodger Fuller
Sean Cairns
in the role of director of strategy
and growth portfolio in which
she drove the development and
implementation of the Borealis
Group Strategy and supported
the diff erent businesses in
strategy and business development
as well as growth initiatives.
Prior to Borealis, she
gained extensive experience as
a consultant with McKinsey for
several years, based in Germany,
India, the US and Austria.

European Bioplastics, the association
representing the bioplastics
industry in Europe, is
pleased to announce the appointment
of Maria Negut
as new head of EU aff airs. She
assumed her position on 14
March 2022 and will be based
in Brussels.
Negut, who can look back on

Thomas Ott
several years of working in and
with European institutions, is
eager to take up the challenge.
She will make sure that EUBP
continues to play an active part
in the discussions impacting the
bioplastics sector by engaging
with EU policymakers and the
broader range of stakeholders.

packaging company Sonoco
has announced a raft of
promotions among its senior
operational leadership. The
appointments are eff ective immediately.
Rodger Fuller has
been named chief operating officer
and will report to President
and CEO Howard Coker.
Sean Cairns has been
named president of Sonoco's
Global Rigid Paper and Closures
organization, including
operations in Americas, Europe
and Asia, reporting to Fuller.
James Harrell has been
named president of global industrial
paper packaging, reporting
to Fuller, and has responsibility
for all of Sonoco's
industrial businesses globally.
Also reporting to Fuller is
Russell Grissett, who will
continue to lead Sonoco's Global
Flexible Packaging business
as president. Jeff Tomaszewski
has been named president
of Sonoco's Diversified
Businesses, reporting to Coker.
In this position, Tomaszewski
will be responsible for maximizing
performance and profitability
in the company's diversified
businesses.
Mondi, a global leader in packaging
and paper, has appointed
Thomas Ott as CEO of the
Flexible Packaging and Engineered
Materials business
units. As CEO of Mondi Flexible
Packaging and Engineered
Materials, Ott is responsible for
around €4 billion in turnover
with a team of more than 12,000
employees in 29 countries. He
succeeds Peter Orisich, who
has recently retired.
Danimer Scientific Inc. has announced
it has appointed Anthony
Austin as chief human
resource off icer. Austin joins
Danimer from Bedrock Manufacturing
Co., where he served
as executive vice president,
chief human resources off icer
from 2020.
Over his more than 30-year
career, Austin has served in human
resources roles of increasing
responsibility at leading
companies including PepsiCo,
Winn-Dixie Stores Inc., and Delta
Air Lines Inc. He is a graduate
of the University of Oregon with
a Bachelor of Arts in business
management and a Master of
Science in labor relations.
Greif Inc., a global leader in
industrial packaging products
and services, has appointed
Geoff rey Westphal as director
of sustainable technology.
Greif has one of the most
comprehensive sustainability
programs in the industrial packaging
sector, and Westphal's
role will focus on introducing
innovations that support the
company's continued commitment
to creating shared value
for customers, stakeholders
and the environment.
Kiefel GmbH has appointed
Anne Dierkopf to the role
of CFO, eff ective 1 May. She
replaces Richard Schmidhofer,
who filled the position on an
interim basis for around a year.
The newest member of the
management board, Dierkopf
is responsible for managing the
company's financial operations,
purchasing and IT. Her tasks
will focus, among other things,
on securing the supply chain
and finalizing the deployment
of SAP S/4HANA. In addition,
she will continue to drive development,
creating the strategic
vision that directs the growth of
a business.
GFBiochemicals co-founder
and environmental entrepreneur
Mathieu Flamini has
now been appointed CEO of the
company he was instrumental
in setting up. The focus of the
former France, Arsenal and AC
Milan footballer will be to accelerate
the transition towards
safer and more sustainable everyday
products. GFBiochemicals
is working to provide its
customers with safe, sustainable
solvents and ingredients
derived from the bio-based
levulinic molecule. GFBiochemicals
has spent the last decade
perfecting its technology, product
and certification. Now, led
by Flamini, the company is entering
a new phase of commercialization
as global momentum
from business, governments
and consumers for safer, more
sustainable products increases.
