what's new
the quality-driving parameters in the injection
moulding process, is individually configured
after mould set-up and typically
determined empirically. With Engel's new
holding pressure assistant, this can now
be determined automatically, saving costs
and time.

parts. Through multi-scale modelling, mechanical
calculation and injection moulding
simulation (MMI), manufacturers can
understand the real behaviour of materials
and simulate their function before going
to production. Customers can confirm the
technical feasibility of their applications
with a high degree of predictability and limited
cost compared to the expense of actual
testing through trial and error.
Domo has built a digital database in the
plastics industry with over 42,000 files available
in Digimat, an advanced material modelling
system developed and supported by
e-Xstream Engineering. It covers more than
50 grades in PA6 and PA66, including a
wide range of material behaviour models for
our recycled grades, to support their wider
adoption. This system offers a wide range
of calculations to simulate in-use conditions
realistically and predict the performance of
injection-moulded parts.
For fibre-reinforced materials, the simulation
tool considers the orientation of glass
fibres induced by the injection process.
Domo will be exhibiting with an expanded
outdoor pavilion covering almost
400m2, together with Circularise, a supply
chain traceability and transparency startup.
The booth can be found in the outside
area of the show (OA Hall 4, 04.3).
Machinery
KraussMaffei - 'Blue is the
new green'
" Not enough goes back into the circular
economy; we are inventing solutions
that make this possible, " said Nadine Despineux,
President Digital & Service Solutions
at the company's pre-K press conference.
At K, the company will be showcasing
new digital solutions with which maximum
savings can be achieved for both energy
consumption and the CO2 footprint (Hall
15, booth C15/C24-D24). As well, the company
is also introducing two new injection
moulding machine series - the precisionMolding
and powerMolding - to its customers
in Europe and North America. The new
precisionMolding is the basic, all-electric
PX series machine with a reduced number
of options, while powerMolding is the
counterpart of KraussMaffei's hydraulic GX
series. Both are highly suited for standard
applications, such as technical parts, electric
and electronic devices, and the automotive,
packaging or medical industry. The
precisionMolding was introduced in Asia in
2019, the powerMolding 2021 and both have
performed successfully in that region.
The company also announced its entry
into the additive manufacturing market,
with new technology that will be unveiled at
K 2022. The world premiere will be held at K
2022, October 19 at 4.40 p.m.
Engel launching new iQ
module
Engel is introducing a new member of the
iQ product family at K 2022. Called iQ hold
control, it automatically determines the
optimum holding pressure time to help
process technicians achieve massive time
savings. The holding pressure time, one of
the holding pressure time is mould breathing
on the one hand, and the plasticising
screw position on the other. iQ hold control
analyses both process values and suggests
the optimum holding pressure time via the
CC300 injection moulding machine control
after just a few cycles. Once the set-up
technician has confirmed the value, production
can begin immediately.
The holding pressure time is determined
objectively, meaning that even less experienced
process technicians can adjust the
process parameters at the push of a button
in case of a batch change. Further efficiency
gains can result from the automatically
determined optimum holding pressure
time being lower than the holding pressure
time set initially. In these cases, the cycle
time is reduced and the energy requirement
decreases.
At K, connectors for vehicle electronics
will be produced on an all-electric e-mac
injection moulding machine featuring all
of the smart assistance systems available
in Engel's inject 4.0 programme. The smart
assistance systems can be activated and
deactivated individually to allow visitors to
the show to experience the feature live (Hall
15, stand C58).
Now also to be made available in Europe and
North America: the powerMolding and precisionMolding
machine series.
iQ optimisation has a
significant impact.
