for extrusion and
thermoforming
Bio-Fed, a branch of the German
compounder Akro-Plastic
GmbH has introduced a
number of new grades of its
M·VERA compounds. The new
materials - GP4001, GP4003
Stand E22
and GP4005 - are aimed at
thermoformed rigid packaging
applications, including coff ee
capsules. Boasting a homogeneous
wall thickness profile
and with mechanical properties
comparable to those of
conventional plastics, these
biocompounds can be processed
in multilayer structures
to improve their mechanical,
optical or barrier properties.
The material has earned OK
compost INDUSTRIAL certification
from TÜV AUSTRIA
Belgium up to a wall thickness
of 1.1 mm and is made
of approximately 70% renewably-sourced
raw material.

BASF launches IrgaCycle additives
to enhance recycled
material quality
additive solutions that aim to
increase the percentage of recycled
content in several enduse
applications such as packaging,
automotive & mobility,
and construction. These solutions
address specific quality
issues associated with recycled
resins, such as limited
processability, poor long-term
thermal stability and insuff icient
protection from outdoor
weathering. At launch, the
product line includes a range
of diff erent additive formulations,
with more to follow in
the future. The line currently
includes: IrgaCycle PS 030
G, which enhances long-term
thermal stability in rigid applications,
mainly for recycled
HDPE, polyolefins and mixed
polymers; IrgaCycle PS 031
G, to improve processing and
long-term thermal stability of
recycled LDPE and LLDPE for
incorporation into films and
related flexible packaging applications;
IrgaCycle PS 032
G, which provides processing
stability and long-term thermal
protection for recycled PP
and polyolefin blends containing
impurities; IrgaCycle UV
033 DD, combining weathering
stability with enhanced
thermal and processing stability
for reclaimed HDPE and PP
blends for re-use in outdoor
goods; and IrgaCycle XT 034
DD providing long-term heat
stability and helps neutralize
impurities of the " first life " of
the plastic, thus improving the
mechanical properties of polyolefin
recyclates.
The granulated non-dusting
product form ensures safe and
easy dosage during converting or
compounding.
