She praised the owners of André Napier Salon in Chicago, saying how even after only working at the salon for a few months, she could tell how much pride they put into their business. “This is a wonderful place to work and my bosses make each day exciting and fun,” Janowski wrote. “They also have shown on more than one occasion that they care very much about my success in the salon as well as their own.” I was intrigued, and Launchpad readers were rewarded with a great story on tradition, hard work and determination in April’s “Salon of the Month.” Not long after that, I received another heartfelt email from a reader. I attended the grand opening, and was moved by the volume of supporters he had present. “We’re all so proud of Anthony,” his brother told me. “He’s such an inspiration.” Most recently, my editorial director received word from a friend that her coworker’s sister-in-law is Celeste Corcoran—a fellow hairdresser whose legs were blown away below the knee during the Boston Marathon bombing, and whose teenage daughter nearly died when shrapnel tore through her femoral artery. We were able to immediately get the word out that a fund had been set up to help the family and your donations have helped blow past the $500,000 goal.
