Trendsetters/Mood Board What aW onderful OH, CANADA Eu Eufora Artistic Director Dee Fortier chats w with Executive Editor Amy Dodds about th the beauty of nature, education and be being a mother. LIFELONG LEARNING I have been in the industry for 32 years, many of those as a teacher and mentor sharing my experiences-but what my students give back to me is even greater. I have seen hair evolve and be re-created in many different ways, but my students always give me a fresh perspective. I live just outside of Toronto, about one hour west. This town keeps me grounded. Between travel, running a salon, managing people and being a mom, one must stay grounded in order to still ﬁnd inspiration. EXTENDED FAMILY We adopted my daughter from Haiti ﬁve years ago. She was 19 months old when we went to bring her to her new home...it was unforgettable. When we went to the orphanage, my heart broke. Seeing the eyes of those children is something that I will never be able to forget. My amazing daughter is now 7. At this time in my life, being a mature mother has made me appreciate life in a different way! I like to look at the creative process from the end and work backward.When I have an idea I start with the end result in mind,then create a storyboard of images that will help build my concept.
