On the Cover Beauty Oasis Glamour is no mirage at Diane von Furstenberg's spring 2014 show, where loose waves make a splash thanks to Orlando Pita and BioSilk. D iane von Furstenberg has spent decades making sure her runways are walked by as diverse a group of models as possible. And her spring/ summer 2014 showing at New York Fashion Week was no exception. Opening up with none other than supermodel Naomi Campbell-this month's cover girl!-the show boasted a wide range of women with varying hair textures. "The inspiration and the name of the show is Oasis," says von Furstenberg of her collection and the accompanying beauty looks. "The idea and the goal were to create an oasis of beauty and serenity and color in a world that is sometimes so hard. It is about inviting women to be their own oasis, and it is about creating an oasis of peace and beauty around them." Orlando Pita, working with BioSilk (, riffed on the oasis theme by opting for a relaxed look, creating a clean middle part accented with soft, unfussy waves and a glossy finish. To reflect each model's individual beauty, Pita used different products on each girl to bring out her natural hair texture in its healthiest state. Nevertheless, Pita says there was one product he couldn't get enough of: "The miracle product backstage was the BioSilk Silk Therapy," Pita reveals. "Some of these models came in with dry, damaged hair-but the Silk Therapy gave it the moisture, shine and moveable texture that we needed."
