POWERING THROUGH THE PANDEMIC By Angela D. Joyner, Chief of Management Operations T he staff of the Education Cluster has been teleworking successfully since mid-March. The staff has found creative solutions to the challenges presented by transitioning to working remotely and developing ways to stay connected to their respective teams. The accounts payable shared service center makes payments to schools that educate District students with special needs through the Non-Public Tuition agency. Prior to the pandemic, these non-public schools would transmit their invoices to the office by courier due to the sensitive nature of the information included in the invoice. Working with the program staff at OSSE, Clerical Assistant Tewsday Porter, Accounts Payable Manager Thomas Taylor and OSSE Agency Fiscal Officer Paris Saunders implemented an on-line submission portal using Box which allows non-public schools to submit their invoices electronically and securely. 60 | THE BOTTOM LINE Staff Assistant Antonio Thompson, powering through at DCPS.
