O

n January 18th and 19th of this year, the
District of Columbia hosted its second
ever Institutional Investor Conference, in
conjunction with the DC Water and Sewer
Authority (DC Water), the Metropolitan
Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) and
the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit
Authority (WMATA). Held at the Walter
E. Washington Convention Center, the
Conference hosted approximately 150 large
institutional investors, banks and money
managers, investment bankers, financial
advisors, credit rating analysts and other
participants in the municipal bond market.
Mayor Bowser opened the conference
with welcoming remarks followed by senior
finance officials from the OCFO and the
other participating agencies, who presented
key financial information about the District
and the other agency participants. The conference provides the opportunity for direct
contact with the investors who purchase the
bonds that provide money for important capital projects, such as school modernization,
