30 logo submissions, the judges
selected Jennifer
Valentine's design

winner
of
the
"OCFO Continuous

Design Contest".
Ms. Valentine,
a management and program analyst with
the Office of Tax and Revenue, demonstrated her exemplary design skills in
developing a logo that incorporated the
OCFO value statement which invites us
all to provide the highest standard of service every day.
When asked what inspired her to
submit a logo design, Ms. Valentine said,
"I was excited about a new initiative that

encouraged employees to improve their
work environments by staying engaged
and sharing new ideas to become more
efficient. Participating in the logo contest allowed me to utilize my creativity
and support the development of our new
SMARTER Program".

Smarter ORIGINS

T

wo years ago an organization-wide
request was initiated to solicit feedback for the development of a comprehensive OCFO
value
statement.
A value statement
supporting
the
OCFO
mission,
strategic plan and
vision of becoming a best-in-class
financial organization. Abukar Abdirahman took the initial
value statement created by senior leadership and developed a comprehensive
statement that reflects the SMARTER
culture.
Reflecting on his work, Abukar stated,
"I've always set personal goals for myself
to keep growing as a professional and
focused on how I can improve from one
year to the next. I believe organizations
are no different and should be focused
on continuously improving year-overyear, quarter-over-quarter, hence being
SMARTER."
