Ensuring the OCFO's Integrity

Office of Integrity and Oversight

he mission of my office is to ensure
accountability, integrity, and efficiency is
maintained within the financial management
and tax administration systems of the District
of Columbia government. Through our audit
and investigative work, we provide the CFO
with an independent appraisal of OCFO operations and assure the highest standards of
integrity of employees. The Office of Integrity
and Oversight is made up of two divisions:
Internal Audit and Internal Security.
The Internal Audit Division is responsible for
conducting audits and reviews of OCFO agencies with an emphasis on high risk areas in sensitive OCFO programs. The work is designed
to provide reasonable assurance that
our established policies, procedures
and internal controls are effective and
efficient for OCFO operations. The
Internal Audit Division is also responsible for overseeing the federally-mandated Single Audit, which audits the
spending of federal grants by the
District government.
The Internal Security Division
has three primary responsibilities:
1) Conduct investigations of alleged
violations of the OCFO Code of Conduct; 2) Conduct background
investigations of newly hired, incumbent, and contract employees;
3) Conduct ethics and integrity training for all OCFO employees and
contractors. This annual training increases employee awareness and
understanding of ethical issues in the workplace.
