OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION (OMA)

Getting the Job Done!
Marquette Poole, Support Services Assistant,
OMA - Office of Logistics & Support Services

I

am proud to say that last month marked my 20th anniversary with the OCFO. I joined the agency as a Customer
Service Representative in OTR, and later transitioned to
OMA's Office of Logistics and Support Services. Early in
my career with the District Government, my duties were narrowly defined. However, the relocation to Waterfront Station
created a marked increase in my duties which include furniture installation, copier maintenance and programming, furniture lock replacement, equipment assembly, and supply
management.
The one thing I like best about working in Logistics is that the
days are rarely routine - there is always something new to learn,
with many opportunities to creatively overcome resource challenges.
One of my favorite projects was taking a leadership role to enhance
the electronic security of our multi-function copiers as required by
the Internal Revenue Service. With a very short deadline, I worked
closely with both OCIO staff and Sharp Electronics, Inc. to develop
processes that protect federal tax information sent to the copiers by
OCFO employees. We were able to meet the IRS requirement within
the limited time constraint.
Another challenging project was created by the loss of an OCIO
staff member last year. Logistics assigned me to partner with the
helpdesk team to identify and routinely dispose of obsolete computer
equipment and peripherals and we were able to complete this project quickly and maintain the accurate asset records required by our
Accounting Department.
As the OCFO continues to grow and develop new initiatives, I look
forward to working SMARTER on the next set of challenges.
