Accounting for DIFS

M

y name is Fikremariam Wubie. I currently
serve as the Lead for the Budget to Report
(B2R) Team, which is a general ledger (GL) function.
My Deloitte counterpart refers to the GL as the
"center of the universe" for Oracle ERP since
every module will feed into the GL. The B2R
team consists of two OCFO subject matter experts,
one lead, a Deloitte advisor, and one contract technical consultant. I am responsible for determining the types of accounting that come from the
sub-ledgers (AR, P2P, etc.) to the General Ledger,
providing accounting knowledge and expertise to
the team, and attending workshops, proof points,
and deep dive sessions to validate whether the
selected vendor tool (Oracle) will meet the District's
accounting, financial reporting, and program operation needs.
Previously, I served as the Financial Systems
and Accounting Manager for OFOS, Accounting
Systems Administration Division. The Division is
responsible for, among other things, maintaining the
District's General Ledger, ensuring it reflects accurate account balances, providing SOAR support to
OCFO employees, publishing closing instructions
and reviewing agencies closing packages (quarterly
and annually), training District employees in SOAR
and CFO$olve systems, and providing data and
support for District's CAFR preparation and annual
audit.
