RH - The Gallery at the Three Arts Club
Continuing its pattern of restoring historic buildings into fabulous stores, RH - The Gallery at the Three Arts Club in Chicago
also is the brand's first foray into hospitality. The six-level store features culinary offerings by restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff,
which include the 3 Arts Club Café, 3 Arts Club Wine Vault & Tasting Room, and 3 Arts Club Pantry & Espresso Bar.
Design architect James Gillam of California-based Backen, Gillam & Kroeger collaborated with RH to "reclaim, restore
and reimagine" the 1914 building-which was originally a residence for young women studying music, drama and visual
arts-into a retail and dining destination. Features include a glass-and-steel enclosed Grand Courtyard and a Rooftop Park &
Conservatory. The grand staircase has been reopened after being walled off for years to reveal natural light coming through
from the conservatory five floors above. The entire structure was restored with respect paid to its original vision, creating a
dramatic backdrop for collections of luxury furniture in a gallery setting.
