how'd fromthey the do editor that? 038 WHAT A FAÇADE W HEN THE ARCHITECTS at BarbaritoBancel were asked what inspired them to create the distinctive white textural façade for Dior's Miami store, they credited the fabric in the skirt of a full-length gown from a recent House of Dior collection. Translated into architecture, the surface of the gently curved panels was fabricated from ultra high-performance concrete and marble powder. Dior's three-level Miami store in the city's design district has large groundlevel windows framed in shiny, silvery metal to provide clear views into the interior. In the evening, the façade is dramatized with white light from hidden fixtures behind the façade panels, creating a glowing sculptural quality to the structure. The store interior was designed by architect Peter Marino in collaboration with Dior's in-house architecture team. The result is a contemporary and minimalistic space, with metallic accents and splashes of gray and white throughout. - Vilma Barr MARCH 2017 DESIGNRETAILONLINE.COM GLOBALSHOP.ORG Photos by ALESSANDRA CHEMOLTO Sketch courtesy of BARBARITOBANCEL ARCHITECTShttp://www.DESIGNRETAILONLINE.COM http://www.GLOBALSHOP.ORG
