EFA DESIGN SHOWCASE
CONTINUING CARE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY

Fellowship Village BASKING RIDGE, N.J.
Submitted by: KDA Architects VOORHEES, N.J.
Fellowship Senior Living is in the
process of adapting its healthcare and
social environments in response to
these market conditions and consumer
preferences. An important first step is the
addition of a new auditorium in the heart
of the community and the renovation of
major community spaces.
Fellowship Village continuing care
retirement community has a population
of 450 residents and an increasing demand for programs. The existing 80 seat
multipurpose room is inadequate both in
capacity and technology. Coincidentally
two regional performing arts organizations approached Fellowship looking for
a home venue for their presentations.
Collaborating with these organizations and theater design specialists, the
project team has designed an auditorium
that will provide the setting for the
presentation of high-quality and diverse
programming in an appropriate setting.
Designed for flexibility, the auditorium
has 140 retractable seats with the capacity for an additional 100 floor seats to
accommodate large productions and
events. The retractable seating allows
for an entirely open floor for banquet
seating.
Complementing this project, the main
community spaces will be renovated to
bring in more daylight to a new great
room and lounge. The auditorium lobby
is adjacent to the bistro and its wood
