EFA DESIGN SHOWCASE MEMORY CARE Sunrise at Montgomery Village MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, MD. Submitted by: Sunrise Senior Living Design Department MCLEAN, VA. The scope of the project was to convert a portion of the first floor from independent living resident rooms to a secured neighborhood for residents with memory care needs. In order to do this, two existing resident units were eliminated and turned into an activity/living room and a dining room. In addition, the mail room in the main lobby was renovated and made smaller in order to accommodate a new staff office for the new Alzheimer's neighborhood. Lastly, all resident rooms were redesigned to be more functional for the residents with dementia. The design team's role was to direct the architect with regards to space planning and layout for this new neighborhood to ensure there was a sufficient 92 Environments for Aging * special supplement
