Located 27 miles from Manhattan in New Providence, New Jersey,
the site for this 600-unit Life Plan
community is the highest geographic elevation for miles. This affords
360 degrees of expansive views to
the local community, a Wildlife
Refuge, Nature Preserve, and to the
lights of New York City.
The architectural character of the
project was established from careful
study of neighboring housing. Utilizing character, scale elements, and
colors from the local neighborhoods
served to visually integrate Lantern

Hill into its community. An indoor
aquatics center and spa, fitness
center, multiple dining venues, pub,
billiards, outdoor dining, events
venues, art studio, underbuilding
parking, rooftop gardens, and a
variety of indoor and outdoor flex
spaces were programmed and designed to respond to proven lifestyle
expectations and preferences of
newer generations of seniors.
Extensive market analysis was
performed and utilized to inform
the design team of the optimum
unit sizes. Lantern Hill provides
a large range in size and cost as a
strategy to expand the target market. This resulted in one of the most
rapid sales absorption rates in the
Life Plan Industry with full sell-out
of Phase One in the first 10 weeks of
marketing.
With 444 units of Independent
Living and 85 Care Units including
Assisted Living, Memory Care and
Skilled Nursing, this Life Plan Community is the first phase of an ongoing design and construction program
that will ultimately provide over 600
accommodations. The residences
at Lantern Hill were conceived and
appointed to respond to the lifestyles
and desires of newer generations
of senior Americans-a generation
that helped form and design today's
American Housing Model.
