BULLETIN FIRST LOOK Smith Village in Chicago's historic BeverlyMorgan Park neighborhood has begun construction to modernize its Johanson Wing in response to the demand for more private suites and contemporary common areas for short-term rehab and skilled nursing residents. The continuing care retirement community's interior renovation plan includes decreasing the number of licensed beds from 100 to 78 to provide 66 private suites for short-term rehab and skilled nursing care and 12 shared rooms. In addition, construction of a three-story, 10,204-square-foot extension to the current building will add therapy rooms on the first floor and dining rooms on the second and third floors. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2022. RLPS Architects is serving as the architect, and Merlino Design Partners Inc. is the interior design firm on the project. 14 EFAmagazine.com * Spring 2020 COURTESY OF RLPS ARCHITECTS Smith Villagehttps://www.cappellaliving.com/ https://www.cappellaliving.com/ http://www.EFAmagazine.com
