How long have you been an administrator?

6 years
What career or profession, other than your own, have you always wanted to try?
I've always wanted to own a fitness studio. As a matter of fact, I still do!
What advice would you give someone entering the legal administrator field?
Managing a budget is the easy part. Managing people is harder and takes
consistent work and positive energy.
Share an interesting "tidbit" about yourself that most people would not know:
I grew up in Zimbabwe where I went to boarding school for six years. I had
to wear a school uniform every single day. I've never recovered from that.
The best advice I received from a fellow legal administrator was:
Always keep your OMP in the loop. Unpleasant surprises are something he/
she should never get.
To be successful, legal administrators have to:
Be able to make tough personnel decisions, especially when they impact
the office. Successfully manage up (and down) and be as transparent as
possible at all times.
Describe yourself in three words:
Curious, energetic, introverted.
In my spare time I like to:
I ran track in school and have kept the fitness bug. I love working out, ideally standing on my head in a 105 degree room:). Working out daily clears
my mind and gives me the tools that are necessary to deal with the stressful
aspects of my job.

Activities (other than work) I am involved in:
I'm a history buff who loves to travel. I just came back from Cuba where I got a huge dose of history while traveling the countryside and meeting the beautiful Cuban people. Did I also mention I love working out?
Describe your management style and why it works for you.
I always maintain an open door policy (even when I don't feel like it) because it sets the tone for the office.
I work hard because I want to set the right example for my staff and I try every day to radiate positive energy.
