REFINERY HOTEL A former hat-making factory in the Fashion District has been reborn as the Refinery Hotel. The history of the 101-year-old building is reflected in the new hotel's 197 guest rooms, which feature what architecture/design firm Stonehill & Taylor describes as an industrial-chic aesthetic, with such touches as custom furniture, original artwork, 12-ft. ceilings, dark-brushed oak hardwood floors and millinery artifacts (including a writing desk designed to resemble an early 1900s sewing machine). Noteworthy public spaces include a prohibition-style lobby bar and a rooftop terrace. 54 boutiquedesign.com NOVEMBER 2013 RICK LEW 38TH STREET AT SIXTH AVENUEhttp://www.boutiquedesign.com
