KALISHER OFFERS ANOTHER
LOOK INTO HIS WORLD
ENCORE ATLANTIS RESORT SET FOR DUBAI

A second Atlantis Resort is slated to be built on The Palm,
a man-made island in the Arabian Sea just off the coast of
Dubai. Developing the $1.4 billion resort are Investment
Corporation of Dubai (ICD), an investment arm of the
city's government, and Kerzner Intl. Holdings Ltd., a developer and operator of destination resorts and luxury hotels.
The new 800-key resort, The Royal Atlantis Resort
and Residences, will be housed in an m-shaped building
that rises 46 stories at its tallest point. The building's
architect is Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, while its
hotel interiors are being created by GA design. (The
complex will also be home to 250 luxury residences
created by Sybille de Margerie Design).
In addition, the resort will house a Sky Pool, which
will be located nearly 300 feet above The Palm; a Beach
Club; private gardens and infinity pools; new restaurants; a spa; and a fitness center. The new development
is slated to be completed by 2018, Gulf Business reports.
Located nearby is Atlantis, The Palm, which opened
in 2008. "This next phase of Atlantis, including the luxury
residences of The Royal Atlantis, will continue to drive
the growth of Dubai forward," says H.E. Mohammed
Ibrahim Al Shaibani, executive director and ceo of ICD
and chairman of Kerzner Intl. "This investment reaffirms
ICD's commitment to support the long-term growth of our
domestic hospitality market, a key pillar and growth sector
for the Dubai economy."

Jesse Kalisher has released his second book, "One World," a collection of black-and-white images curated from the many trips he's
made around the world, often with his family. (The cover shot,
taken in 2009, is of his two children looking out at the tarmac at
JFK International Airport in New York.) "I believe in the camera as
a vehicle for capturing what actually exists in life, as a window into
the human achievement and the human condition," says the famed
photographer, whose company is a major provider of art for hotels
and other hospitality settings.
"One World" images include a woman carrying sticks in a
Masai village in Kenya; two lifelong farmers about to lose their
land in North Carolina; and a little girl at her mother's market
stall in Barcelona. "If I manage to capture something with my
camera that strikes a chord in others, one that perhaps amuses
or enlightens, then I have succeeded at something wonderful,"
says Kalisher, whose first book, "If You Find the Buddha," was
published in 2006.
