1 Busy booths were the order of the day throughout the
trade fair. Pre-show networking started with two highprofile events: 2 a design tour of the Yabu Pushelberg
(YP)-designed Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown,
led by YP's Johnathan Garrison (front row, left); and the
BDNY Opening Reception at 583 Park Avenue, whose

Last November's Boutique Design New York
(BDNY) was an energetic, electrifying experience,
drawing more than 6,900 hospitality design professionals for its seventh annual run at the Javits Center.
That represents a 19 percent increase in attendance
over the previous year, continuing a pattern of doubledigit, year-over-year growth since the trade fair/conference's inception.
The design fair's exhibit space expanded by more
than a third, to 112,000 sq. ft. that housed 615 manufacturers and marketers of FF&E and other design
elements for hospitality interiors. Seventy-seven international companies from 12 countries-including
Canada, China, Denmark, Israel, Italy, Mexico, the
Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan
and the U.K.-were among the exhibitors/sponsors on
the trade fair floor.
The show drew rave reviews from both sides of the
aisle. Here's a typical takeaway from an attendee: "The
size of the booths and intimacy of the spaces allow you
to see all of the unique products that are offered," says
Monica Meade, interior design manager, Marriott Intl.
"I will definitely attend next year."
In a similar vein, exhibitor Tyler Jones, senior
director of sales, Decolav, says BDNY is becoming "the
pre-eminent hospitality trade fair... It seems every year
is busier and better for exhibitors and attendees alike.
We can credit countless projects and relationships
coming from this show, and we plan to continue to be
a part of it."
