THE ITINERARY: Just like the popular app, the team went beyond snapshots to a dynamic, layered
interpretation. "The focus is on creating a space that, rather than focusing on one specific topic or
idea, acts as a visual catalyst for discovery and interpretation," says Suomi. "The space is arcadelike, with a set-up that encourages the visitor to walk through the space and have a different,
sensory experience in each area," he adds. Subtle hints refine the initial impression even more. "The
pathway woven into the carpet pattern subconsciously suggests this movement," adds Stagias.
THE SIGHTS: Don't count on a quick scroll (or stroll) here. You'll need to follow the team's lead
throughout the space just to hit the high points. "Because of this idea of flow, we did not try to
create one particular 'wow moment,'" explains Toledo. "It is the movement through each room of
the booth that provokes continuous thought, excitement and exploration. Once you're seated or
settled into a space, you can digest and truly enjoy the experience." The team turned to materiality
as another tool for making focal points from each angle and every perspective. Think artwork
printed onto MDF & PVC and fabric instead of solid wall panels.
THE SOUVENIRS: Don't be afraid to take an abstract concept and give it a concrete presence.
Guests can and will keep up-all designers need to do is connect the mental dots. "We steered
away from stereotypical references by focusing on using artistic details that evoked the ideas of
technological stimulation, without actually utilizing technology," says Suomi.
