Danny Forster
One upon a time Forster wanted to be a stand-up comic. Humor's loss is architecture's gain:
His buildings are now redefining the skyline across New York and beyond. The upcoming AC by
Marriott NoMad will be the tallest steel-framed modular hotel in the world. For more on how
this project is redefining the possibilities for modular building inside and outside, turn to "Block
Buster" on page 42. If you think he looks familiar it's because he's also a TV host of shows such as
"Build it Bigger" and "Extreme Engineering." Forster holds a graduate degree in architecture from
Harvard University. Since founding his own studio over a decade ago, this Brooklyn native has
racked up credits on high-profile (pun intended) hotels such as the Courtyard by Marriott near
Ground Zero and an in-progress hotel in the Hudson Yards neighborhood.
Greg Keffer
Partner and studio leader | Rockwell Group
Keffer really hopes Rockwell Group doesn't leave a thunderous footprint on their
projects. "As a studio, we don't confine ourselves to a particular style or method," he says.
That's a good thing when two New York hotels under the same flag, Moxy Chelsea and the
recently-announced Moxy East Village are within walking distance of each other. For more on
how he found a unique design voice in the lobby and F&B venues of the soon-to-open Moxy
Chelsea, flip to "Organic Growth" on page 58. Keffer's previous work on hospitality projects
such as Hotel EMC2, Autograph Collection in Chicago, and Nightingale Plaza in Los Angeles
helped nab the firm trophies in the 2017 Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality
Design. Prior to joining Rockwell, Keffer worked with firms such as Jeffrey Beers Intl.
Nancy Ruddy
Principal and executive director of interior design | CetraRuddy
Ruddy loves authentic imports. Her work on D&D London's two New York restaurants,
Bluebird at the Time Warner Center and an unnamed-at-press-time venue under construction
in Hudson Yards, shows off her flair for preserving original design flavors while making them

"Fly Away" on page 54. Since cofounding her firm (with John Cetra) in 1987, Ruddy's experience
includes hospitality work with Galleria Hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, SushiSamba/ Duck+Waffle
in London, 20 Stories in Manchester, England, SUGARCANE in NYC's Dumbo neighborhood,
and residential projects such as New York's One Madison and Walker Tower.
