defies convention and proves mid-tier properties' restaurants can be destinations in their own right, with F&B comprising 55% of the brand's total revenue.
Trigano has also proven to be a spot-on forecaster about the future of travel.
People are taking shorter holidays, and increased professional mobility is driving
the shape of hotel public areas. More and more, hotels are becoming community
hubs where all kinds of people meet to socialize, work, shop and eat. And, says
Trigano, this is transforming the nature of how properties look and function.
He acted on that belief as an early adopter with the rollout of Mama Works,
the coworking spaces inside the hotel. The concept's overnight success in Lyon
and Bordeaux has led to a third venue that will soon open in Lille, with others
in Luxembourg and Lisbon on the horizon. "We expected to see start-ups hotdesking in Mama Works," he says, "But most of our customers are from large
companies, banks and technical consultancies who want to get away from
traditional office environments." Innovators are attracted to Mama Works'
informal, collaborative attitude: round tables for inclusive discussions;
banquette nooks enclosed by cork-lined walls for sound absorption; and
different types of workstations for focused work versus brainstorming sessions.
The design team's insights into the ways people want to work, play and stay
prove that, indeed, Mama knows best.
